Design Inspiration For Interior Painting Projects
Sometimes we are just plain out of ideas when it comes to interior paint colors.  We find ourselves sitting in the room that needs to be painted, looking around and thinking - what in the world should I do in here?  You go to your local paint store and grab a few sample colors and randomly paint areas around the room.

You have friends over who share their thoughts on the colors that you chose.  Each one has their own opinion and makes suggestions that wind up making you even more confused than you were when you started.  You are usually pretty good with colors but this certain room in your home has you stumped.

So, where do you go from here?  Do you really need to hire a professional color consultant?  Where can you find interior painting inspiration?  Well, here are a few ideas that might help.

Search the Internet - Nowadays everyone seems to be using the internet as a place to go to ask questions.  It is easy, convenient, and the information available is endless no matter what you are looking for.  There are websites, blogs, forums, and so much more with inspirational photos and ideas concerning paint colors and home interior design.  You can do a search for the specific room that you need help with such as a dining room and do a Google Image search under "Dining Room Paint Color Inspiration".  You will be surprised how many pictures come up.  Try out a few other search phrases and see what you come up with.  If there are any pictures that pop out at you, be sure to print them out to use as reference.  Some of the images may have stories behind them and you may be able to find the exact colors that were used.

Watch TV - There are several channels now on cable television that focus only on home design, interior decorating, painting projects, and so much more.  You may find as you watch one of the programs that they showcase a gorgeous room with colors that you really love.  You can usually go online to the show’s website and find out about what colors were used on that specific episode.

Look through Magazines - Just like television, there are also a myriad of magazine options on the subjects of home decorating and design.  A magazine is something tangible that you can look through very easily and ear mark the particular rooms that you like.  More often than not, the paint colors are listed for the rooms within the magazine.  And if they are not, you can easily contact the editor through their website and inquire.

Read a Book - There are many books available specifically for the purpose of finding design inspiration for your home.  There are books that focus on specific rooms, paint finishes, colors, and even color combinations.  You can see how colors work together, what colors blend well with other colors, how to tie in certain colors with elements that are already in the room.  The pictures are crisp and clear and very easy to work from if you needed to match colors against a paint color chart.

If you find a really great reference picture from any of the above places and you are having trouble finding the right colors, you can take it to your local paint supply store to see if the staff might be able to help you find the right match.  Painting contractors are not necessarily trained in color consulting, but a seasoned professional may have the experience and eye to point you in a good direction as well.  So for your next interior painting project, be sure to do your research before driving yourself crazy with paint samples.  Seek inspiration through the internet, design shows, magazines, and books.  This is a great start.  And if you are still having trouble - bite the bullet and hire a professional color consultant.
