The painter will also make sure the furniture is covered to prevent drops of paint from spattering onto it. Dropcloths need to be put down as well. Ladders, tools, and paint need to be brought in. Prep Work - This is one of the most important reasons in hiring professional painters. People do not realize, but the prep work is the most important part of painting. A professional painter can see the problem areas that will need repair and take care of them with spackle and taping if need be. They can see if something needs to be primed before painting. Some painters also tape off things like trim, windows, and baseboards in order to get a clean crisp line. Many seasoned painters use the cutting in method and can get a clean crisp line that way. Painting - Like I said above, each painter has their own method in executing the painting of a room or exterior of a home or business. Some will tape first and then paint. Some will cut in first and then paint. But all painters roll on the final coats of paint for a smooth and even finish. Most paints need to be applied in at least 2 coats to get the proper coverage

Clean Up - After the painting is complete, a professional painter will assure that a space is cleaned of all materials and the floors are swept. And if you have made arrangements for them to move the furniture for you, they will take care of that as well. It is so nice to be able to walk into a space one day and see the progress and then walk into the room the next day and see it completed without having to worry about the mess.

You will get the best results from hiring professional painters if you do your research before hiring just anyone. A great way to find a good painter is by word of mouth. You may have a friend or family member who might be able to refer you to someone. Here are a few questions you can ask about the painter that you are considering to hire.

• Are they clean & neat?
• Are they punctual?
• Are they willing to take the time to answer questions?
• Do they offer help with moving furniture?
• Do they take care of the planning process? Purchase materials?
• How are they at taking care of problem areas and prepping the walls properly?
• Do they leave clean lines when painting & cutting in?
• Do they clean up and leave the space exactly the way it was before they came in?

The cost may also be an issue for some people, but as in so many other areas of work – you really get what you pay for. If the professional painters are cheaply priced, they may not pay as much attention to detail. They may not take the extra time to keep things neat and orderly. And they may cut corners on the paint quality. So, be sure to ask questions. In order to get the best results in hiring painting professionals, you will need to do your homework.
